Where to find flint or quartz?

The beach I go to is mostly rock and pebbles and such. Today I found some shells for decoration and 171 grams of coal. I have tinder, wood, steel and coal, but I need flint or quartz to complete my (material) and steel lighter. So can I find flint or quartz on my beach or where? Also where have you found it?
