Help please...connotation help?

I am doing a workbook exercise for my Spanish cl. I need to come up with connotations for the words nuevo, viejo, caro, barato, importante, no importante, atractive, no atractivo, util, and inutil. I know what all the words mean-new, old, expensive, cheap, important, not important, attractive, non-attractive, important, and not important. We have to come up with 5 connotations for each word, but I am not sure what it means. I looked up what a connotation is and it is what we think of when we hear a word, right? I just don't understand how I am supposed to go about this ignment. Could I get some ideas on how to go about this. I am not looking for answers. I just need a general idea of what to do.
