What do you think... American History.?
It depends upon what you mean by "symbolic speech" Theoretically, blowing up a post office could be considered an act of symbolic speech..... In my opinion, as long as it doesn't impede upon anyone else rights it should be allowed (blowing up a post office would obviously impede some peoples right to life and property). So, flag burning, protests outside public buildings, etc. are all acceptable. Here is something you might want to mention: What about the people who protest at the funerals of dead soldiers, with their obscene anti-gay slogans? In my opinion, though I detest them and their "speech" with every fiber of my being, they should be allowed to do it. That opinion isn't shared by many, but for me if you are going to protect speech, you have to protect all speech, even hate speech.
