How did the prosperity of the 1920s set up for the eventual crash and misery brought on in the 1930s?

One issue that led to the market crash at the great depression was that investors would actually borrow money from creditors to invest. That means that when the market crashed, not only did the investors lose their money, but the creditors lost their money as well.
